Pillow Talk {001}

The perfect way to add a little pizzazz or sophistication to any space is with pillows. In our first ever Pillow Talk, we're going to dish on some of our favorite on-trend pillows, and how/where to find them and use them in your home!

First Lady Needlepoint Throw
Jonathan Adler, $165

JA always brings that funky, retro style to any space and his throw pillows are no exception. This Jackie O inspired throw gives that pop of pink that is oh-so-on-trend and will look great on a neutral sofa or armchair.

Peacock Silk Pillow Cover
West Elm, $39

West Elm's silk pillow cover line has that awesome painted on look. These blues will again work on a neutral piece, but they're also demure enough to work on some other fun patterns and fabrics. Mix this look with a bright, modern, linear print for an awesome look.

Georgia Pillows
Horchow, $108 (ON SALE!)

Love that Horchow's Georgia line is such a modernized old-school look. Taxidermy is all the rage...we have gushed over it for months now and even shouted from the rooftops our fave taxidermist, Beth Beverly. Now, especially for those PETA-minded home decor junkies, you can bring in a little animalia with these great pillows.

Perfect Cut Pillow in Red
Dot & Bo, $19.99 (ON SALE!)

Dot & Bo offer some fun, modern prints at extremely reasonable prices. Love that this pattern echoes back to an Eames-ian glory day...very fresh look to brighten up any space!

Pinspiration {002}

Some of our favorite rooms of the week from Pinterest for a little Design Inspiration (or Pinspiration as we call it):

Especially in a loft space or in a home with an open floor plan, rooms tend to blend together, but still need to serve their individual purposes.
This room does a phenomenal job of both segregating spaces for a dining room and a living room, and also letting them coordinate and speak to each other.  Love the living room and the availability/functionality of the seating arrangement. Super nice.
Great little vignette that highlights our love affair with mixing fabrics. This classic chair has the most beautiful modern fabric and the leopard print throw pillow just kicks it up a notch.
Just like when you're getting dressed, if you feel like your room is overcrowded/overdone, it probably is! But if you mix in enough neutrals with a textile-heavy room, you'll probably be just fine.
What an amazing living room! Don't feel like you have to fill your bookshelf, especially if it's massive like this one...throw a huge piece of art to add some flair like they did here, or several small pieces and it breaks up the traditional shelf space.
That ottoman is to die for, too! Love that it centers the room, is functional, and colorful yet still neutral...very nice piece.
Love the gray walls and ceiling. Allows you to bring in textures and fun colors in the rug and throw pillows...and that swinging chair...wowza! Talk about a statement piece.
We also are loving the art above the catch-all bookshelf; shows you that you can have a kids' space that is still chic and designed to a T. Just keep your kids "stuff" organized and it will start to fit into a space and accent it the same as an accessory / art!

This Just In (010)

This Just In: Set of 1940s Table and Chairs (4).

Perfect Fit: First, we love this! And it will probably not be in store long (things go VERY fast, y'all!). So if you're looking for a great little breakfast nook set, look no further. Love the bronze in the chair upholstery...very on trend and will work with most paint colors/rooms.  The tabletop is phenomenal, too!! But we digress. Whether you're using this in a breakfast nook, or as a dining set in a sun room, or as a fun little meeting area in a office...you can't go wrong!!

How Much: $279. Only at Clutter!! Come see us or call (912.354.7556) for details!

Set Design: Paloma Faith's "Picking Up The Pieces"

WE CAN'T STOP LISTENING TO PALOMA FAITH! Her voice is truly spectacular, and the video for "Picking Up The Pieces" is a master-class in D-R-A-M-A and impeccable design.

Want to get the look of this video in your home (and in your closet!!)? Go with lots of vintage/antique pieces, some old world wallpaper, rustic pieces meet a dash of glam with that stuffy English-ness still there (in the best of ways!). Here are some things we'd gravitate to in order to emulate Ms. Faith:

http://theparismarket.com/product/tisbury-saddle-leather-chair
The Tisbury Saddle Leather Chair is meant to be in the Faith Manor. Can't you imagine the Master of the house smoking a cigar, sipping brandy in this handsome chair available at The Paris Market! We LOVE it!
https://www.facebook.com/#!/Measureafabricparlor
We are living for this print available at Measure: A Fabric Parlor in Savannah, GA! Paired with some more neutral fabrics, maybe some golds (of course with some tassels in this instance), this would fit perfectly in Ms. Faith's parlor room.

http://www.horchow.com/Ambella-Titan-Console-Chests-Consoles/cprod95370001_cat17840734__/p.prod?icid=&searchType=EndecaDrivenCat&rte=%252Fcategory.jsp%253FitemId%253Dcat17840734%2526pageSize%253D30%2526No%253D0%2526refinements%253D&eItemId=cprod95370001&cmCat=product
The Ambella "Titan" Console for Horchow is a fantastic mix of Hollywood Regency and rustic charm and would look epic in Paloma's English countryside home. (Or in any home...we certainly wouldn't kick this console out of bed.)

These draped side tables from Clutter are high drama. Paloma might throw them on the end of a green velvet sofa, or use them as inspired night stands.

This Ollie Otson Vintage 1970s Grecian Party Dress is the perfect shade of pink to capture that Jackie O / Paloma Faith look. It's a great blend of P. Faith's outside-breaking-down-crying-look and her inside-breaking-down-crying-look. Check out all of Ollie Otson for some great (local) vintage wares!

This Just In (009)

This Just In: Chrome and Glass Side Table.

Perfect Fit: You can see it a little bit in the picture (or definitely if you stop by Clutter), but this little modern guy pairs perfectly with some more traditional pieces. Above, he sits in front of a 1940s sofa on a vintage rug and sets both pieces off nicely.  He can be your side table in your living room or even a night stand! Especially in a smaller room where you don't have room for two nightstands, make the one POP!

How Much: $75. Only at Clutter!! Come see us or call (912.354.7556) for details!

In the words of Tina Fey..."I want to go to there!"

This Just In (007)

This Just In: Midcentury Teak Dining Table (seats 6).

Perfect Fit: I mean, the obvious, it would making a major statement as your dining room table.  Pair it with some midcentury chairs (super clean lines, maybe a neutral OR funky fabric) for a chic and sophisticated look.

But HOW ABOUT...try this awesome table as a desk in your home office. Your office will look like Don Draper's (or Peggy's) and you'll really love both the functionality and design edge of this piece.

How Much: $450. Only at Clutter!! Come see us or call (912.354.7556) for details!

Absolutely in LOVE with this Victorian. This is the definition of using modern and transitional furniture and paint choices in an older home, and making it work beautifully! Love the gray + yellow color combo in the bedroom, and the super light gray paint downstairs. This house is so great, it was featured in the 2012 issue of Southern Living!!

AND you can stay here, y'all! That's right....it's a vacation rental! Click on the photos for all of the details.

This Just In (006)

This Just In: Chesterfield Loveseat.

Perfect Fit: This handsome fellow is not only extremely chic, but extremely comfortable.  That's often a rarity in design, when you can pair what looks good to what feels good, but this piece does both brilliantly.  Love it for a library or living room, with two occasional chair across from it and a lovely, low coffee table between.  We'd have it in the master bedroom, too, though...it really is a very versatile and timeless piece.

The good thing about leather is that it starts to look (and feel) better with age.  There are ways to give it a little youth (certain polishes, etc.), but we love the aged leather, worn-in (not worn-out) look.

How Much: $895. Only at Clutter!! Come see us or call (912.354.7556) for details!

This Just In (005)

https://www.facebook.com/#!/photo.php?fbid=579822112071072&set=a.512337048819579.1073741825.429585680428050&type=1&theater

This Just In: Set (4) of 1960's orange chrome chairs.

Perfect Fit: Sometimes, when you're looking for the perfect dining room chairs, you have to think outside the box. These rockin' 1960's vintage chairs would look amazing along a traditional or even metal dining room table. We'd pair them with some uber-traditional arm chairs at the head and foot...think high-back, deep-leather, arm chairs...for an all around funky-meets-chic look.

Don't be afraid to mix styles. A funky, midcentury piece (like these chairs) stands out even more when juxtaposed against a traditional wood or leather piece. You could even find the same style chair (straight lines, etc), in a neutral tone to set these babies off as well.

How Much: $425 for the set (4). Only at Clutter!! Come see us or call (912.354.7556) for details!

This Just In (004)

This Just In: Awesome Vintage Caned Chair.

Perfect Fits: This piece has the cool advantage of maintaining that traditional vibe, that most caned chairs have, with a little contemporary appeal in the linen and tufted seat. We love that it has that deconstructed feel that is oh-so-in right now, even though it is a finished and stunning piece.  Wouldn't this look great in a little reading nook in your master?  We just think it's sublime. And don't worry about finding an exact match for a partner; because of the chair's neutral fabric colors, you can match her with a similar neutral or even a funky, vibrant arm chair with similar bones.

How Much: $195. Only at Clutter!! Come see us or call (912.354.7556) for details!

Styled By Lynn: Horns o' Plenty

If you're like us, you got a thing for taxidermy. Bringing in that natural, cool vibe of a mounted animal or hide gives your home a rustic look while still very on trend.  If you don't like to look into the sometimes sad eyes of a deer or other animal, try an antler rack to achieve the same effect. Because they are smaller than a full mounted head, too, you can group them and make a real statement in a space.

On a white brick wall in Lynn's den, she has a fantastic grouping of antlers, some from Clutter, some from years of collecting. This set is all deer, but you can definitely play with other horns or pieces to add a little originality. And then always play...Lynn threw a couple of pearls two of the racks just to funk up the look and give it a little flare.

You can find some great taxidermy pieces locally at Clutter, or on the web.  We love the Diamond Tooth Taxidermy Etsy page...some fun and funky pieces that can add a little something to every room (check out her Christmas ornaments, too!! Amazing!).

Here are some rooms from Pinterest that do taxidermy right! And for more Pinspiration (Pinterest inspiration), check out our Pinterest page!!  We have a great board on Taxidermy!

Home Invasion: Brooke's House

A light, relaxing oasis, the Master Bedroom has pops of teal and lime green, and accommodates a great deal of light from the West-facing windows.

The "Starbucks Corner" in the den affords a moments relaxation in a home with two (amazing) toddlers.  A well-worn map from Afghanistan is framed at right, and the horse heads are from ZGallerie.

Absolutely love this slip-covered sofa from Pottery Barn, the Martha Stewart orange and white pillows and the cow hide (from Clutter) in this comfortable and useful space.  [We spend a LOT of time in this room!]

Ray's Room has a masculine edge with dark woods and shades of pale blue. An old artist's easel is deconstructed to show off a young man's book collection in the corner.

Violet's Room pulls double duty as the Guest Bedroom. Pale pink and gray show a sophisticated, feminine palette. A large flamingo painting hangs on the far wall (by Violet's daddy).

Two tables in the dining room were painted a sleek emerald to become one powerful piece in the large space. Plenty of room for a hoard of Thanksgiving guests. Looks amazing with the Hawaiian afternoon light streaming in!

A downstairs nook is in full-on Zen mode with a beautiful, vintage praying hands (carved out of wood), a rustic bowl (a wedding present), and a framed print. The print is from One Kings Lane and was framed locally in Hawaii.

Brooke, Tony, Violet and Ray live in beautiful Oahu, Hawaii.  B is Co-owner of Clutter with her mom, Lynn, and when she's not chasing around the babies, she's redecorating her 1700 square foot government quarters on Schofield Barracks (or blogging on here!). She has officially been #HomeInvaded.

Set Design: American Horror Story. Murder House.

One of our Halloween obsessions, American Horror Story: Murder House, is not only a killer show (pun intended), but it's a mastercraft in set design and killer furniture.  Murder House, if you haven't seen it, is aptly named for its reputation as a last resting place for many a Los Angeles suburbanite.  But it could just as easily be called Wicked Furniture House or House of the Awesome Wallpaper and we'd still be hooked.

To get the Murder House look, you're going to tend towards a lot of deep, brown leathers, some traditional, yet modern wallpaper choices, and a lot (and we mean a LOT) of wood details.  Think Restoration Hardware, think old-is-new-again, think what would Ryan Murphy's house look like (he's the EP of Murder House...and Glee if you can believe that!).  Lots of vintage pieces, deconstructed chairs, over-the-top crystal chandeliers, hides, taxidermy, TAXIDERMY, TAXIDERMY.  Dark, sexy, masculine...and maybe a little haunted?!?

Here are some great pieces that will get you in the Murder House direction:

Dream Home of the Day: 4 Spring Marsh Lane, Savannah, GA

All this ultra-modern home needs is a little contrast and it would be the MOST beautiful space. Don't get bogged down in one style and don't feel that you always have to stay 100% true to the integrity of the home. Throw some traditional pieces in a modern home to warm up the space; throw in some lucite chairs or ultra-mod furniture in an older home for a little funk!

A Little About...Widdicomb: Widdicomb Furniture Company is American furniture juggernaut that has been building quality pieces for the last (almost) two-hundred years.  John Widdicomb Company bought out the original brand, but still maintains a high-end, high-quality line of products. We are fans!

Dream Home of the Day: 154 Pelican Drive, Tybee Island, GA

Awesome views and great bones in this beautiful Tybee home. We'd change a little bit of the paint choices on the interior, but love the neutral Hampton's vibe in the living room/kitchen area and the amazing porch. Get the chic coastal vibe of the main room in your house with some neutral yet modern paint choices (whites, grays)... and throw in some great linen pieces and some folk art (check out Charles Scarborough...Clutter fave!!!).
