Artist of the Day: Alex Katz

"January 7", Alex Katz.

"September Afternoon", Alex Katz.

"Reclining Figure / Indian Blanket", Alex Katz.
Alex Katz's large scale portraiture and printmaking marked his career in the 1980s. His unique style and prolific artistry, including studies in large scale floral prints, made him a hugely influential artist in the last half of the twentieth century. Although his name is not as recognizable as Warhol or Jasper Johns, his work is in galleries worldwide and he continues to make art in New York and Maine.
